The socket adapter has a first contact point (1), for insertion in a light bulb socket (2) and a second contact point (3), e.g. a 2-pin contact point, for supplying an electrical load. The first contact point can be coupled to the housing (4) providing the second contact point directly or via an intermediate cable, the housing incorporating an on-off switch or a fused overload switch.
