PURPOSE: A method for transmitting and receiving a moving picture mail using a video phone is provided to see an E-mail and the moving picture mail in real time through the video phone using a general telephone line by composing a PPP(Point to Point Protocol) module or a TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) module in the video phone and connecting the video phone to the Internet. CONSTITUTION: A video phone acquires a moving picture formed as video and audio data, compresses the acquired moving picture, and stores the compressed moving picture(S306). The video phone having a PPP module or a TCP/IP module connects to the Internet, and uploads the stored moving picture to a moving picture mail server(S310-S314). The moving picture mail server stores the uploaded moving picture(S316). The video phone discriminates whether a moving picture to be executed in the video phone is the stored moving picture. If the moving picture to be executed in the video phone is the stored moving picture, the video phone reads the stored moving picture and reproduces the read moving picture. If the moving picture to be executed in the video phone is not the stored moving picture, the video phone connects to the Internet using the PPP module or the TCP/IP module. The video phone receives the moving picture from the moving picture mail server, stores the received moving picture, and reproduces the moving picture.
