PURPOSE: A device and a method for sensing the contamination of an exhaust filter of a vacuum cleaner are provided to improve the suction performance of a vacuum cleaner and the convenience in use by making a user easily recognize the contamination of an exhaust filter. CONSTITUTION: A device for sensing the contamination of an exhaust filter includes a rotating unit rotating by the discharge pressure of the air discharged out of an exhaust port through an exhaust filter(11). The rotating unit is installed at the air discharge part of the exhaust filter. The air discharge pressure is decreased by the increase of the dirt stuck on the outer face of the exhaust filter. According to the decreased air discharge pressure, a user easily recognizes the contamination of the exhaust filter.
