PURPOSE: A paging method of a terminal in a mobile communication system is provided to set the second paging region to be bigger than the first paging region if a paging process fails, thereby securing a paging success rate and efficiently using wireless resources. CONSTITUTION: When a paging request is generated, a mobile management station searches a base station at which a terminal is finally location-registered (200), and obtains values of base stations included in a preset paging radius(210). The management station generates the first paging region information, and transmits a paging command message to a base station controller(220). The base station controller attempts paging according to the first paging region information(230). The management station decides whether the paging is successful(240). If not, the management station obtains values of base stations included in the second paging radius(260), and generates the second paging region information(270). The management station transmits a paging command message to the base station controller. The base station controller attempts paging according to the second paging region information(280).
