The spool includes two half hubs which fit together. Each half hub includes a flange (1A, 2A) moulded with the half hub in order to form the disc on one edge of the spool. Projecting tabs (5,6) on the end of one of the hub sections engage in corresponding slots (7,8) formed within the second hub section. The spool for supporting a band of material includes two half hubs which fit together to form the spool. One of the half hubs has a flange (2A) which is off-centre with respect to the length of the hub section, so that it is reversible, and may be used to form spools with different spacings between the flanges, according to the wide of band to be carried.
