The device holding in place two sections of cable tray has a male part (5) carrying a lug (12,13) projecting beyond the principal plane of the base or side of the tray. A female section (4) has a slot (6) on the base or side, with the edge (7) of the slot inclined relative to the direction of longitudinal extension. The two sections are held together by the lug locking in the slot.
