<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable radio equipment capable of maintaining a satisfactory antenna gain in voice communication or data communication. <P>SOLUTION: The portable radio equipment includes a rotating member 14 fixed on a rotation axis of a hinge 8 disposed between an upper case 1 and a lower case 2, and a hand strap 13 having an antenna conductor 3 which is covered with a plurality of antenna covers 4 of electrically insulating material, and the end of which is fixed on the surface of the rotating member 14. When the upper case 1 is opened, the rotating axis rotates the rotation member 14, thereby pulling in the antenna conductor 3 inside the case and forming a gap between the plurality of antenna covers 4.
