PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger improved in pressure resistance of a header without increasing the manufacturing cost, with respect to the heat exchanger using a refrigerant of extremely high pressure such as a heat exchanger in a compression cycle applying CO<SB>2</SB>as a refrigerant. SOLUTION: In this heat exchanger comprising a core 5 and a header 9 integrally formed by brazing, an opening part 84 of the header 9 is closed by inserting a multiple part 7 formed by stacking an end part of a side plate 4, into a slit 6B. The multiple part 7 is improved in its pressure resistance as the end part of the side plate 4 is bent or the other plate is superposed to the end part of the side plate to increase its thickness. Further as the opening part 84 can be closed only by inserting the multiple part into the slit 6B, the manufacturing cost is not increased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
