PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an HC exhaust quantity when restarting an internal combustion engine by adsorbing HC by unburnt gas remaining in an intake passage in a canister after stopping the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine 9 is provided with the canister 19 for adsorbing hydrocarbon, canister communicating tubes 30 and 31 for communicating the canister 19 with the intake passage 23 of the internal combustion engine 9, a heating communicating tube 32 for communicating the canister 19 with the intake passage 23 via the inside of the internal combustion engine 9, a controlled directional valve 21 arranged in either one of the canister communicating tubes 30 and 31 or the heating communicating tube 32 and switching the fresh air introduction and the inside air circulation, flow rate control valves 20a and 20b arranged in the other, and a control unit 1 for controlling opening-closing the controlled directional valve 21 and the flow rate control valves 20a and 20b.
