PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetation mat which can rapidly form growth plant community of indigenous herbaceous perennials on a slope, and to provide a method for production of the same. SOLUTION: The vegetation mat A is used by transplanting either one of the indigenous herbaceous perennials 2 so as to include a flexible net 10 laid on a field or field covering plants 4 to the another one at proper intervals, and then peeling off the both 2, 4 from the field together with the flexible net 10 after formation of entanglement of the rhizomes 3 of the indigenous herbaceous perennials 2 and the roots 5 of the field covering plants 4.
