<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which an image flow caused by a discharge formation substance produced due to electrification of an image carrier can be continuously prevented with ease by passing a removal air flow through an absorbing member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a fan 44, as a blowing device, within a blowing duct and on the side of an electrifying device rather than a filter 39. To recover the function of the filter, the fan is rotated in the reverse direction of the direction used during an ordinary image forming operation, thereby generating a removal air flow. Thus, since the air flow in the reverse direction of the direction used during the ordinary image formation is passed through the filter, contaminant such as ammonia sticking to the filter and moisture are separated from the filter by a physical force such as the removal air flow, and they are sent away from the electrifying device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
