The armchair (10) is fitted with a rectangular base (12) protruding from the front and provided with two lateral guides (20). A first footrest (14) can be moved along the guides (20) and can be hidden in the space under a second, slightly higher footrest (16) also to be slid in guides (20) parallel positioned beside the first pair. The rear area of the exchangeable armrests (30, 32, 34) is fitted with at least two pairs of slightly inclined guides (28) for the back part (24). A customer can test the chair (10) with the components arranged in different positions in order to decide for a particular height and depth of the seat. The exchangeable parts can also be covered in different materials facilitating a realistic choice.
