PURPOSE: A combustion chamber of a diesel engine is provided to improve the performance of the engine and reduce emission by suppressing a squish flow and improving conservation of a swirl flow and turbulent intensity. CONSTITUTION: A combustion chamber of a diesel engine is formed in a space between the top of a piston(31) ascending and descending in a cylinder block and the bottom of a cylinder head. The combustion chamber of the diesel engine includes a pipe(33) protruded on the center of the upper end of the piston; an inner rib(39) deflectively protruded to the top of the piston from the outer periphery of the upper end of the pipe; a combustion bowl(41) recessed concentrically with the piston, to the outer periphery of the pipe; and an outer rib(43) deflectively protruded to an inlet part of the combustion bowl in the same direction as the inner rib.
