PURPOSE: An MAC(Media Access Control) method in a wireless network is provided to change length of a super frame if the super frame length is to be changed, according to monitoring results of characteristics and/or a channel status of a data frame, thereby transmitting more MPDUs(MAC Protocol Data Units) without a fragmentation process. CONSTITUTION: A protocol controller resets a system based on parameters(401). The protocol controller starts a BSS(Basic Service Set)(402), and delivers a beacon frame to a wireless station(403). The protocol controller analyzes data included in an information area of a received data frame, forms MIB(Management Information Base) information, and collects characteristic information on the data frame(404). A channel monitor monitors characteristics and a channel status of the data frame(405). The beacon frame or a probe response is delivered(406). The channel monitor monitors the channel status and the characteristics of the data frame(407), and decides whether CFP(Contention Free Period) or/and CP(Contention Period) length is to be changed. If so, the channel monitor decides whether length of a super frame is to be changed(409). If the CFP and CP length is not necessarily changed, the channel monitor checks whether the BSS disappears(411). If so, an MAC layer operation is terminated.
