PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging box which is excellent in easiness and reliability in automatic packing, has steadiness, and has such a form that foreign matter can hardly enters to the utmost, wherein a conventional packing apparatus for a rectangular upper surface can be used substantially as it is without the need of developing an original device. SOLUTION: The packaging box is of a wrap-around type including an upper face plate, a bottom face plate, a belt-like barrel formed having side face plates for coupling the upper and bottom face plates, and inner and outer flaps. The packaging box has a fold-to-connect side piece for forming an upper surface with 4N vertexes (N refers to an integer of 2 or larger) interposed at a portion where the inner flap and the barrel are connected. The width of the inner flap is smaller than that of the fold-to-connect side piece. Thus a locking rib is to be formed at least at one of breadthwise ends of the side piece, and the locking rib is constituted to be capable of engaging with an end surface in the thickness direction of a notched corner on the bottom face plate.
