Chip module (2) for a chip card has a memory (5) for storage of secret information. The module also has a detection device (6) for monitoring a region (8) of the module to detect any unauthorized access attempt and to cause the deletion of the secret information if such an attempt occurs. The module also has a power source (7) for supply of the detection device. An Independent claim is also included for a corresponding chip card.
