<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode improving the luminance by usefully collecting the light projected to the side direction. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting diode 1 is provided with a semiconductor light emitting element 4 mounted on the lead frames 2, 3 and a translucent resin package 5 which covers one-end parts of the lead frames 2, 3 together with the light emitting element 4. When the surface of the resin package 5 is set as a reference, a curved surface is formed and projected on the rear side of the surface, both the lead frames 2, 3 are bent like a Gull-Wing and respective other end parts are arranged on both sides.
