A mirror assembly (6), which is attached to a head rest portion (20) of a rear seat (17) in a motor vehicle (8), is provided. The mirror assembly (6) includes a base plate (22), at least one fastening strap (24), universal ball joint (26), and mirror housing (28) that holds a reflective mirror (30). The mirror (30) is used for viewing a child (12) sitting in a rear-facing child safety seat (14). The safety seat (14) is placed on the rear seat (17) of the motor vehicle (8) so that the child (12) faces rearward. The mirror assembly (6) allows a driver (10) or passenger in the front seat of the vehicle (8) to observe the child (12) by looking in the rear view mirror (15) of the vehicle (8). The mirror assembly (6) can be either mounted directly to the head rest (20) or directly to the seat back (16) or to both the head rest (20) and the seat back (16) thereby bridging the gap (56) therebetween. |
