PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having excellent ultraviolet absorptivity and extremely slight defects and composed of a norbornene resin and to provide a method for producing the optical film. SOLUTION: The optical film is composed of a norbornene resin composition containing an ultraviolet absorber having≥150°C melting point and≥200 molecular weight in an amount of 0.5-5 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the norbornene resin. The optical film is characterized in that the number of dotted defects having at least≥50μm diameter is <10 in 1 m2of the optical film having 5-200μm thickness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
