PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramics material in which one or more properties selected from superelasticity, shape memorizability and high damping capacity can be obtained, and to provide a method for producing the same.

SOLUTION: The polycrystal yttrium compound (YNbO4) based or YNbO4-Nb2O5-Y2O3based ceramics material produced by a sintering method has one or more properties selected from superelasticity, shape memorizability and high damping performance.
