PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant resin composition with shorter flameless combustion time compounded with mixed hydroxide (comprising at least one metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium, aluminum and calcium, and at least one transition metal selected from a group consisting of manganese, nickel and zinc). SOLUTION: The flame retardant resin composition comprises a thermoplastic polymer compound compounded with the mixed hydroxide and a borate. For example, the thermoplastic polymer compound is a polyolefin. The amount of the transition metals in the mixed hydroxide is 0.2-20 wt.% and the amount of the metal oxide per 100 pts.wt. of the thermoplastic polymer is 5-250 pts.wt, and the amount of the borate in the thermoplastic polymer composition is 1-30 pts.wt per 100 pts.wt. of the polymer compound. The composition is obtained by melt kneading the thermoplastic polymer compound with the mixed hydroxide and the borate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
