PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain appropriate printing image quality all the time regardless of a set resolution in a subscanning direction, even for a wider variable range in the subscanning direction. SOLUTION: A platen roller 92, document feeding rollers 82a, 83a and a press roller 103 are controlled by a micro-computer 55 based on the resolution in the subscanning direction set by a subscanning direction resolution set key 10. At the same time, the micro-computer 55 transmits a pulse width setting current feed signal to form an appropriate size perforation, corresponding to the set resolution in a subscanning direction, to a thermal head driving circuit 36. Based on a predetermined impression signal corresponding to the set resolution in the subscanning direction, an impression variable motor 21 is driven via an impression variable motor driving circuit 39, to control the pressure contact force of a printing drum 101 with a printing paper 62 to a predetermined magnitude.
