A method of diagnosing the presence or absence of a cancer disease condition in a patient, characterized by the following steps: a) providing a biological sample from the patient; b) detecting the concentration of glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) in said sample; c) determining the presence or absence of said cancer disease condition based on the concentration determined in step (c).
