PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder avoiding paper creases and to provide a recording apparatus fitted with the sheet feeder. SOLUTION: The sheet feeder 14 comprises a sheet feeder roller cover 69A that supports auxiliary rollers 70A, 70B so that they can be moved in the axial direction of an auxiliary roller shaft 55, and moves the auxiliary roller 70A and a sheet feeder roller 65A in linking with the travel of a slider 61A in the transport direction of recording paper; and a sheet feeder roller cover 69B that moves the auxiliary roller 70B and a sheet feeder roller 65B in the transport direction of the recording paper in linking with the travel of a slider 61B.
