PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a magnetic disc and a magnetic head from being increased, by comparing a readout voltage of a specific storage of the magnetic disc with a reference voltage to detect surely early a failure in the magnetic disc. CONSTITUTION:When the magnetic disc 7 starts rotation, a specific recording of the disc 7 is read out immediately by a magnetic head group 1. The readout voltage and a reference voltage set at a reference voltage generator 8 are compared at a readout signal comparator 4, the presence of a failure of each head of the head group 1 is detected surely early based on the decrease in the output via a failure detecting circuit 5, allowing to prevent the damage to the magnetic head and magnetic disc from being increased. |
