PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile communication system capable of promptly transmitting packets when data transmission is requested while reducing the power consumption in a packet standby state.

SOLUTION: A mobile station 2 receives specified HS-SCCH of 4CH from a base station 1 at all times, detects the information of a mobile station ID included in the HS-SCCH and judges whether or not it matches the mobile station ID of the present station. In the case of detecting the mobile station ID of the present station in the HS-SCCH, the mobile station 2 uses control information transmitted by the HS-SCCH and receives HS-PDSCH transmitted with a prescribed time delay from the HS-SCCH. From the base station 1 to the mobile station 2, by using the HS-SCCH, not only the control information but also transmission / reception state updating information for indicating the state [active / suspend] in a state updating frame set beforehand is reported.
