PURPOSE:To generate power from excess heat of low level while utilizing the nuclear energy in chemical reaction by using carbon dioxide gas and a nickel based catalyst thereby depriving heat quickly from a fast breeder reactor. CONSTITUTION:When same quantity of methane gas land carbon dioxide gas 2 are caused to react in a dry reformer 6 at 800 deg.C, substantially two times in volume of mixture gas 3 of carbon dioxide and hydrogen is produced. A nickel or magnesium based catalyst is employed in the reaction. A part, especially 1/3, of the reducing gas thus produced is then subjected to shift reaction up to 300 deg.C and mixed to produce an ideal methanol material. In the system, heat from a fast breeder reactor is utilized through a thermal medium 7. The heat of the reducing gas is collected by a steam 8 and utilized in power generation. This system realizes energy saving, provides a method using no steam and producing no carbon dioxide gas harmful to the environment, and cools a fast breeder reactor 5 in safety while decreasing the water consumption. |
