PHEROMONE COMPOUNDS HAVING AGING AND STRESS CONTROLLING ACTIVITIES, AND PROCESS FOR ISOLATING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Pheromone compound having aging and stress controlling activities, and a process for isolating the same are provided, which compound is useful for studies on aging and stress, metabolism pathway and signal transfer system, and disease development mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A pheromone compound, 6-(3,5-dihydroxy-6 -methyl-tetrahydro -pyran-2-yloxy) -heptanoic acid, having aging and stress controlling activities is represented by the formula(1). A process for isolating the pheromone compound of the formula(1) comprises the steps of: growing C. elegans in S basal broth medium, concentrating the medium and extracting the concentrated medium with ethanol; dissolving the extract in water and extracting the solution with ethylacetate; removing impurities using silica-gel adsorption chromatography; subjecting the active fraction to HPLC(High performance liquid chromatography) coupled with amine residue; and subjecting the active fraction to HPLC using the molecular weight size.
