PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to shorten a distance between nozzle arrays of a line type head to prevent an image quality decrease. SOLUTION: A recording head unit 1 with a nozzle formation face where a plurality of nozzle holes for jetting ink droplets are formed within the nearly same plane, and a cap means 5 capable of covering the nozzle formation face of the head unit 1 are set. The cap means 5 is set to be movable up and down with respect to the head unit 1 and is consequently made shiftable relatively to the head unit 1.
