PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dust from permeating into a bearing or a shaft seal through the opening of a flange wall. SOLUTION: A cylinder wall 7 is arranged to a pump housing, and a rotary shaft 5 connected to a pump impeller 6 is inserted through the cylinder wall 7. A flange wall 13 extending toward the outward of a radial direction is arranged at the end of the rotary shaft 5, and a pulley 9 is integrally arranged at the periphery of the flange wall 13. A mechanical seal 8 is arranged between the inner surface of the cylinder wall 7 and the rotary shaft 5, a bearing 14 is arranged between the periphery of the cylinder wall 7 and the inner surface of the pulley 9, and an opening 11 is formed at the flange wall 13. In a water pump like this, the opening 11 is formed in a region m which locates at further outward in the radial direction than the inner surface 7b<SB>i</SB>of the cylinder wall 7 and at further inward in the radial direction than the end of periphery 14a<SB>o</SB>of an inner ring 14a of the bearing 14 simultaneously.
