PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a readily manufacturable float made of a metal and having large pressure resistance. SOLUTION: The float comprises a hollow body 1 composed of two bowllike split bodies 4a and 4b, a tube 2 passing through a hole 10 provided in the bottom of each split body and passing through the body 1 and a reinforcing body 3 provided in the interior of the body. The float is characterized as follows. The body 1 is obtained by making an opening edge 5a of one split body 4a to be swallowed into the inside of the opening edge 5b of the other split body 4b and welding an opening end face 14 of the other split body to the outer lateral face of the one split body 4a. The reinforcing body 3 has a hole 6 for passing the tube 2 therethrough and the periphery of the reinforcing body 3 is brought into contact with and welded to the opening edge 5a of the one split body 4a.
