Method for generating CT images of a periodically moving examination area, especially the heart region. According to the method, small partial circumferential segment images are recorded along the circulation spiral of a multi-row CT instrument and processed to generate segment images. In a second stage the images are converted to partial images in the target image plane (e.g. axial plane), while in a third stage the partial images are combined to form a complete image in a phase correct manner. The invention also relates to a corresponding CT instrument for method implementation.
