A work-tool head (10) has an oscillations exciter (14) for generating linear ultrasonic oscillations and a bonding tool (18) which makes contact with the contact surface and/or the conductor. Between the oscillations conductor (13) and the bonding tool is provided a converter (12) which serves for converting the linear oscillations into radial oscillations, so that the bonding tool is activated by radial oscillations or rotating field oscillations. An Independent claim is included for a method of fixing an electrical conductor on a contact surface of a substrate.
