An insulator (10) used in an electrical connector has a plate like portion (12). The plate like portion (12) has upper and lower surfaces (12a, 12b) perpendicular to a Z-direction and is elongated in an X-direction. In the lower surface (12b), a plurality of grooves (14) are formed and extend in parallel with each other in a Y-direction. The grooves (14) are arranged with intervals in the X-direction so that a plurality of ridges (15) is formed between the respective neighboring grooves (14) in the X-direction. In the upper surface (12a) of the plate like portion (12), material-depressed portions (16) are provided. Each material-depressed portion (16) extends in the Y-direction and has a shape longer in the Y-direction than in the X-direction. Each material-depressed portion (16) is positioned in correspondence with one of the ridges (15). The insulator is made of anisotropic resin.
