PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel mirror finished surface disk for producing disks of high quality by relatively small manhour at low cost, and a nickel mirror finished surface disk. SOLUTION: A nickel layer is deposited by electroforming on a surface of a mirror-polished disk-like amorphous carbon or glassy carbon, and the thickness of the nickel layer is adjusted to a predetermined value. The nickel layer is peeled off from the surface of the amorphous carbon disk. The disk-like amorphous carbon or glassy carbon is preferably obtained by forming thermosetting resin, and baking it at the temperature of 1,000-1,500°C in the inert gas atmosphere.
