PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a symbolic article such as a statue of Buddha, a cross which does not deform even when cremated together with a dead body and gives impression that the deceased died in peace after cremation with his/her soul lying in the symbolic article. SOLUTION: This symbolic article 1a for funerals 1a to be cremated in a funeral ceremony is provided with: an article body 5 with thermal resistance for keeping its shape before and after the cremation; a thermally peelable part 3 which covers at least a part of the article body and is removed by the cremation; and a thermally resistant coating film 4 which is formed between the surface of the article body and the thermally peelable part and covers at least a part of the surface of the article body.
