PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check valve capable of normally opening/closing by preventing deformation of a valve element. SOLUTION: An entrance 4, a valve chamber 3 and an exit 5 are formed by a valve casing comprising an entrance side member 1 and an exit side member 2. An annular valve seat 6 is formed at a valve chamber 3 side opening end of the entrance side member 1. The spherical valve element 7 is disposed in the valve chamber 3. A cross-like retaining part 9 is formed in the annular valve seat 6 integratedly with the entrance side member 1. The retaining part 9 is partially formed to a spherical shape such that a right surface facing the valve element 7 side is coincident with an outer surface of the valve element 7 and receives the valve element 7 when the valve is closed with the valve element 7 seated on the annular valve seat 6. Since the valve element 7 is received by the retaining part 9, it is not deformed even if it receives impact by water hammer or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
