MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device which can be miniaturized and inhibits external force from directly applying to an internal mechanism.

SOLUTION: A main arm 26 and a sub-arm 29 are constituted without any intersection with a photo detector 31 during rotation operation within a plane including the photo detector 31. For this reason, the reduction of the dimension in the transverse direction of a device can be attained, and the reduction in the depth direction of the device can be attained by constituting the device so as to hold an upper end of MIC-SW46 by a back plate 48 as the thickness of MIC-SW46 is reduced.
