PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of a grid substrate; to prevent the grid substrate from extending; and to make the grid substrate lighter. SOLUTION: The grid substrate is made of lead-based alloy composed of calcium of 0.02 mass% or more and less than 0.05 mass%, tin of 0.4 mass% or more and 2.5 mass% or less, aluminum of 0.005 mass% or more and 0.04 mass% or less, barium of 0.002 mass% or more and 0.014 mass% or less, and the rest part comprising lead and inevitable impurities; or made of lead alloy composed of at least one element selected from a group: silver of 0.005 mass% or more and 0.07 mass% or less, bismuth of 0.01 mass% or more and 0.10 mass% or less, and thallium of 0.001 mass% or more and 0.05 mass% or less, besides the composition of the lead-based alloy; where the effective radius of a grid of the grid substrate (a value obtained by dividing four times the area of a polygon of the grid by the peripheral length of the polygon) is twice the thickness of the grid substrate, preferably twice or more and ten times or less.
