<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy in successively detecting the residual developer quantity as for a plate antenna system. <P>SOLUTION: The developer residual quantity detecting means is provided with a cleaning means for cleaning the surface of a conductive plate by sliding a cleaning member. The cleaning means cleans the surface of a plate antenna arranged in a toner container, and cleans the toner sticking on the surface of the antenna by rubbing the antenna surface with the cleaning member. Besides, the developer residual quantity detecting means is arranged so that the intruding quantity or the contact pressure of the cleaning means becomes maximum on the lower side in the gravity direction of the antenna than that at the center of the antenna.
