Method for upgrading flood protection earth dam by driving in interlocking steel plates into the top of the dam using a mobile rig

A method for upgrading older type flood protection earth dams has a curtain of vertical interlocking steel plates driven into top of the dam to prevent water seepage to the land side and to prevent the back of the dam becoming waterlogged. The upgrading involves laying a support track of perforated steel sheets onto the top of the dam to support a railway track carrying a pile driving rig. The system progressively upgrades the dam by moving the track and supports from the rear of the track onto a fresh section of dam. The top edges of the inserted plates are ground flat and covered by a top dressing.
