摘要 PURPOSE: An in-plane switching LCD element having an improved opening ratio is provided to dispose a common electrode such that the common electrode overlaps with data lines at an interval of an organic insulating layer, and to minimize cut-off areas of pixels by an opaque common electrode, thereby improving an opening ratio. CONSTITUTION: A TFT consists of a gate electrode(111), a semiconductor layer(112), a source electrode(113), and a drain electrode(114) disposed within each pixel defined by gate lines(103) and data lines(105). Pixel electrodes(119) are disposed substantially in parallel with the data lines(105) within the pixels. Common electrodes(117) are arrayed along the data lines(105). The common electrodes(117) are disposed on boundaries of the pixels, influencing on adjacent two pixels.
