PURPOSE: A device and a method for receiving scene information of a digital TV are provided to allow a receiver to decode received information on each scene, so as to use the decoded information in search, edition and storage according to scenes in real time or by recording. CONSTITUTION: A tuner(1) receives broadcasting signals. A demodulator(2) demodulates the received broadcasting signals. A TP(TransPort) analyzer(3) extracts audio packets, video packets, and PSI(Program Specific Information) and PSIP(Program and System Information Protocol) packets. A controller(4) controls PSIP signals among the broadcasting signals. An HDD(Hard Disc Drive)(5) stores the PSIP. An audio decoder(8) receives the voice packets from the TP analyzer(3) to decode the voice packets into voice signals. A video decoder(7) receives the video packets to decode the video packets into video signals. A PSI and PSIP decoder(6) receives the PSI and PSIP signals to decode the PSI and PSIP signals. A PSIP database(9) stores the decoded information to enable search and edition according to scenes.
