PURPOSE: A system and a method for passive embedded interactive coding are provided to annotate a physical document, associate an annotation to an electronic version of the physical document, encode the physical document, and organize the encoded document to a searchable form by making the user find a position on an image. CONSTITUTION: An input device receives the image of the document(203). A parser parses the image into sub images(204). An encoder encodes the sub images to a code(205). A storage stores the code associated with the position of the sub images for the image(206).
