PURPOSE: A separation plate for a lithium ion secondary battery and a lithium ion secondary battery containing the separation plate are provided, to prevent the explosion due to the thermal runway of a battery. CONSTITUTION: The separation plate has a thickness of 25 micrometers or less; is used to reduce or remove the energy accumulation surroundings of a separation plate sufficient for initiating the reaction between a micro-membrane prepared from a thermoplastic material and parts of a lithium ion secondary battery; and contains an auxiliary mixed with the membrane or coated on the membrane in an effective amount. Preferably the thermoplastic material is polyethylene or a copolymer of polyethylene; and the auxiliary is selected from the group consisting of a phosphate, a halogenated polyethylene wax, a triazine derivative, and their mixture. |
