<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly print image data even in using a low-speed interface as an interface between a host computer and a printer. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for controlling a printer 50, image data that have been already stored in the printer 50 are added to accounting print data generated on the basis of input information about merchandise sales and printed. A particular character string showing a printing position of the image data is retrieved from the accounting print data, and the particular character sting is extracted. Next, a line number specified by the extracted particular character string is acquired to generate an image addition setting command on the basis of the line number.
