Non-water and non-solvent based material comprising a drying oil, an extender and a preservative and method for treatment of timber

A non-water and non-solvent based material for treating wood comprises a preservative and a carrier, the carrier being selected such that it remains mobile within the wood and provides for migration of the preservative within the treated wood. The carrier includes a drying oil selected from linseed oil, fish oil or another drying oil and an extender such as heating oil. The preservative includes an insecticide, termicide, fungicide, mouldicide or the like or mixtures thereof. The material may further comprises drying agent to accelerate drying of the drying oil. Also described is a method for treating wood by contacting the wood with the material.
