METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING CARBON MONOXIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of highly efficiently reducing carbon monoxide in a hydrogen enriched gas used for a fuel cell while suppressing a reverse shift reaction, and a compact apparatus used for the same.

SOLUTION: The method of removing carbon monoxide contained in the hydrogen enriched gas includes: a 1st process for bringing carbon monoxide into contact with oxygen in the presence a carbon monoxide selectively oxidizing catalyst to reduce carbon monoxide; and a 2nd process for further bringing carbon monoxide remaining in the hydrogen enriched gas after the 1st process into contact with oxygen in the presence of the carbon monoxide selectively oxidizing catalyst cooled to a prescribed temperature to reduce carbon monoxide.
