N-SOURCE IN-KERNEL CACHE FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE IN COMPUTER OPERATING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application independent in-kernel cache. SOLUTION: A cache object being a method and tool for storing contents is given by utilizing a mechanism supplied by an operating system. A system that acquires storage for the cache object is implemented. Techniques for allowing multiple varying sources of data are defined. Multiple data sources may provide application specific/or application independent data using various protocols. The cache object storage mechanisms are independent of the data sources and vise versa. Techniques for high-speed lookup and management of the cache objects are defined. Mechanisms for moving the data from the data source into the cache object storage mechanism are implemented.
