PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioning device for a vehicle for reducing uncomfortable feeling of an occupant due to the temperature rise in a cabin even when an engine turns to a highly loaded state. SOLUTION: If an operation state detection means 2 detects that the state enters upward slope travel, starting acceleration or middle acceleration travel with an opening degree of an accelerator, while an air conditioning state detection means 1 stably detects comfortable steady air conditioning state, a power saving operation mode determination means 3 determines that the state enters power saving operation mode. In the power saving operation mode, a refrigeration capacity control means 4 reduces the refrigeration capacity, and lightens the load of the engine. It improves the traveling performance of a vehicle, and a blowing-out direction control means 5 controls a blowing-out direction varying device 6 to change the blowing-out direction so as to directly apply an air conditioned wind to the occupant. Even if the temperature in the cabin rises due to lowering of the refrigeration capacity, it reduces the uncomfortable feeling by the occupant. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
